Maleficent

October 22, 2019 0
Maleficent

I watched this with my sisters, as I would with any Disney movie.

If you think about the whole concept of Maleficent, you wouldn’t actually think it’d be appropriate for young kids but this, I recommend! It’s very wholesome. Very pure. And it teaches a lot of lessons especially to kids.

Angelina Jolie. I mean. I couldn’t imagine this role being portrayed by someone else. Oh! Scarlett, maybe? But that’s not the point. She’s just so perfect for the role. This woman is on fire, man.

Elle Fanning. Fanning sisters, am I right?! So gorgeous! Her skin is undeniably flawless! But! Let me just say that in general, Princess Aurora is actually below my favorites list. I just don’t connect with her. I mean, the whole point of her OG fairy tale story is around someone else because she was basically just asleep but the Aurora in this movie gave the character more body and better image I guess.

Okay so totally not in the movie but can I just say that my bestfriend got engaged! That’s for another post maybe. BACK TO THE MOVIE. I like KING PHILLIP! Very kind prince. Oh man the wedding was beautiful! That’s all I could say about that. It’s actually very easy to watch. No dull moments I would say. Kind of predictable but also full of surprises. You know what I mean? More surprises than predictability actually. I wouldn’t spoil you with what happened but know that this is a movie with a happy ending. But it’s relative. Kind of sad too. See, no spoilers. Prior to watching the movie though, I kind of searched for the critics’ review and it’s kind of low so yeah.

I’m so happy that I got to watch this movie! I am now looking forward to FROZEN! And Mulan! OMG! My favorite Disney princess of all time! Mulan that is. Yay! That’s all! Ciao!

Hakuna Matata Mademoiselle

Hakuna Matata Mademoiselle

It means no worries! I miss Disneyland/Disneysea. I like how they did the whole thing! Yup! Even the predictability of it. It’s a good movie for kids and alike. I watched with my sisters as usual and yeah we all enjoyed it, I think. Beyonce though! The role fits her soo well! I always thought of Nala as a very neutral character and yeah it works.

The movie gets slow at some point, I feel like. But I guess the animated version has that phase sometimes too so yeah. Lion King is not on my favorite Disney story list but it’s always nice to see them all come alive. I am just so excited for the upcoming Disney movies this year. We still have Maleficent and Frozen on our list. And! Little Mermaid and Mulan in the future! Goodness, Mulan though! I think I’ll cry or something.

That’s all! If you’re a Disney kid like us/me, don’t miss the magic of watching it on the big screen! Ciao! Me likey. I must say though! We should have watched the movie on a later date or probably very late at night so that there wouldn’t be much kids around because they were kind of noisy and it kind of ruined the moment. Kind of! All is fine though! Yun lang naman.

My Big Furry Monster

My Big Furry Monster

Shiki! I am actually inspired to do this post because I recently saw Tinker Bell's newest sequel, The Legend of the Neverbeast (twice). I was really touched by the movie. I think they should make a movie featuring each one of the pixies. Tink, check! Zarina, check! Fawn, check! You know what I mean? I just love the whole idea of Pixie Hollow.

I asked mom to send me a picture of Shiki and out of the 20 plus photos that she sent, this is probably the most decent. Mom said Shiks doesn't like the camera much. Just like how Gruff avoided Fawn at first. Speaking of Shiki. I think he's kinda like Gruff in a lot of ways. I do think that he's protecting us in his own mysterious ways. Most of my family members don't get it because he's always barking and always loud but for whatever it is, who knows? Maybe he's actually trying to protect us. I totally get them though. So when I'm home and he would do that, I would instantly go down to his place and calm him down. Okay sometimes I threaten him. When I do that, does he feel betrayed? Poor guy. I hope he understands. He would actually only listen to me. When he sees me, he knows it's time for him to shut up. Which I think is good because if he can't be tamed, my mom probably gave him away already. That I cannot stand.

Back to the movie. I don't know what I feel about the Scouts. They're kind of too aggresive to be part of Pixie Hollow I think. Because when I think of PH, I imagine Pixie Dust, colors, magic, girly, and stuff. Not bunch of Pixies enforcing peace you know what I mean? I'm not hating (okay maybe a little). I just think that the Scouts are too gruff-y to be part of the whole Pixie Hollow thing. And why don't they have a team in the Pixie Hollow games? Or do they? I don't even know. Can I just say that the parade to his cave made me really cry. The scene where they have flowers, lights, and dandelions on the sidewalk. Too much feels! And the song! The song!! I thought I would be immune to the scene because I thought I already gave it all out when I first watched it (lotsa ugly sobbing and crying) but when I watched it for the second time, it happened again. Probably because I know it would happend to Shiki too. Not very soon though. Shiki only turned three this January and it would still be a long happy journey for us but I know it would happen because that's just how it is. Reality is sad sometimes.

♡ Anyone who sleeps for 1,000 years deserves a decent bed. And a fluffy pillow.

♡ A spring-filled water bowl that never runs dry.

♡ A night light, so you never have to be scared.

♡ A little fresh air to keep you cool.

♡ And the enduring respect of a grateful Scout.

But you know, even though I feel like that towards them, at the end of the movie, NYX (looks like head scout) thought us all a lesson, didn't she? And that's to be always be respectful and grateful. That I am not really hating. That's all I have to say. See yah!

Frozen is Lurve

January 15, 2014 1
Frozen is Lurve
Have you guys seen the movie Frozen? I highly recommend you watch it! It's really good!! I mean, if I would describe my life in one movie, this would be it. I'm nowhere queen or any of that stuff but you know I think it resembles my life at some point.

If you haven't seen it yet, it's something you would appreciate watching with your sister/s or sibling/s for that matter. Or like your daughters. Because finally! It teaches young girls that they should be aware that before anyone, family comes first. This is why I liked the movie Brave as well. I liked it because it's about family. And not about Princes. Don't get me wrong though because I love princes as well but they're just not my favorite.

I really liked Anna. She's way too gullible but her personality is actually like my sister Mika. Although Anna is not someone I associate myself with a lot. I know I play the Elsa in my family but you know, I think I'm not as cold as her at least. Whew! My favorite part is the part when Anna was singing "do you want to build a snowman" numerous times whilst she was shown growing up. It teaches people that one should never ever give up!! Especially with family. Even though Elsa told her to go away, she still came back!

Olaf the snowman teaches people that sometimes there are people worth sacrificing for. Clearly, the snowman doesn't know beforehand that with heat, he would melt! But then he still insisted and lit the fire so that Anna would be well and not die. When Anna told him that he would melt, he said that line. Good job, Disney!

Elsa teaches people that even though you try your best to conceal it, your true self is what will make you happy! Like she was before she hit Anna. Anyway. The best thing Elsa did in the movie for me is when she built the castle and all that magical stuff and who knew she can do wardrobe too? It's like magic really. I love how she made all of that things. So yeah that's basically what I think about the movie. I think I did a good job on not spoiling the movie. What do you think about the movie?

Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy | Movie Review

December 31, 2013 2
Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy | Movie Review

So on its first showing day, my family decided it's a good idea to watch it. Well not. Anyways.

I didn't really like the movie. I guess I was expecting a little bit more from it. Like, it's quite nice for a good laugh but you know, very predictable! I guess it would have been nicer if there were other artists that played the role of the other characters but I guess that would be pointless since clearly, they thought of the concept very well. And that they clealy wanted one artist (just one artist) to do all four.

So the story is that they are quadruplets and that they were separated by birth by the evil grandmother (father side). Then two of them were brought to the United States and then two of them stayed with the mother and stayed in the province. Then girl, boy, bakla (gay), and tomboy it is. Surprising yeah? LOL. Okay so after several years, the boy needed to have a liver transplant and for some reason, they can't find a compatible donor so they decided to reveal to their children that they're not really just twins. That like, there are really 4 of them. So after they test and stuff, the doctors said that the gay is a compatible donor and yeah. The thing though is that the gay is not okay with it. So he decided to give everyone else a hard time. At the end, he decided to give a part of his liver. It's really that predictable.

My favorite character is Girly. I don't know. Her personality is just awesome at some point and yeah. I like that. Can I just say that for some reason, I find her gorgeous too!

It's not all negative though. I mean it's  really funny. But I guess it's not well put together. It's like "this is funny let's put it in" system and yeah. I seem to be the only one in the family to see the movie that way though. My grandma really enjoyed it. My mom thinks it's okay. And my sisters thought it's really funny.

The Conjuring 2013. Is it REALLY?

August 17, 2013 0
The Conjuring 2013. Is it REALLY?
Okay so before anything else, I just want to say that anything I'm about to say is mildly affected by the fact that I watched this movie half-guilty because I skipped my study schedule for the nth time already so that probably affected my capability to absorb the essence of the story. Or is there any?

Okay so the story (according to me) is like this. There's a family who moved into a house in Rhode Island and then they were happy and stuff, right? On the very first day though, they noticed that their dog refused to enter the house. You know how they say that dogs can feel spirits, right? Yeah. She was barking and acting weird and stuff. And then the girls played hide and seek and then since they don't know the whereabouts of that house yet, they somehow managed to knock something and then the father found out that it's a way down to a cellar. He went down and since it was kind of night time already, he wasn't able to see everything and said he'll be back tomorrow or something. And then the other day, the wife woke up and she got a bruise and then she also found out that the dog already died and then found her husband at the cellar. She also found out that for some reason, the clocks stop at 3:07. Which is weird. Okay so fast forward. Weird things have been happening and then the mother kind of freaked out already and asked for assistance from these ghost hunters or whatever you would like to call it. They hesitated at first but when the mother asked the girl hunter about her wanting to protect her daughters, the girl hunter agreed and then they followed to the haunted house the next day.

Can I just say that there was like a light bulb moment when I read the word INFESTATION? It's just that it was discussed during my Parasitology review class and I was like, okay minus one point of guilt! LOL. Okay so they visited the place, right? The girl felt stuff and even saw "the friend" that one of the daughters reckoned to have. And this lady ghost hunter (I kid you not) was chill as eff. And then at some point, the lady of the house told the lady hunter that she was diagnosed to have an iron deficiency that's why she have bruises. Also the name of the witch who used to own their house is named something that sounds but not quite "Bethesda" which has something to do with grading cervical cytology. And I was like, girl! Is this movie supposed to review me or something?

This is probably the scariest part. Like, I was covering my other eye just to prepare for the situation or whatever's coming next which is kind of a disappointment because nothing happened next but this scene itself is kind of scary already so yeah. Very good. Okay can I just say that there are quite a lot of scary parts but for me they are not so consistent so it feels like so-so to me. My sister was scared all through out though so maybe it still depends on the person watching. And also, I kind of read a lot of good reviews about it so maybe it's just me. Can I just say that maybe the reason why I didn't like it is because I kind of feel that the first part of the movie lacked connection to the rest. It's the creepy doll Anabelle and then I don't get the rest of the story because I'm simply wondering what's the connection of that doll to the whole movie aside from scaring the daughter of the ghost busters and just being creepy as it is. I won't tell you the rest of the story guys. But my point is I don't really think the movie is worth the hype (sort of).  I mean it's not crappy but it's not really that scary. Well I'm obviously describing the movie alone because I believe this is like a true to life story and just the idea of that happening in real life kind of freaks the heck out of me already so yeah.

FAKE ANNABELLE
Can I just say that without the cracks and the scary eyes, this looks like the doll my dad bought in France for my sister. This movie doll also kind of looks like the scary and uglier version of the doll I showed you guys here. It scares me. Kind of. But then being the true to life story that this is, this is actually not really how the REAL Anabelle looks like. So fair enough. I have issues with some of the scenes because you know, if that would happen to me, I wouldn't want to know what's happening or something. For example, if I hear a noise, I wouldn't get out of bed and look for the noise or look for my mom or anyone else. Nah-uh! I mean, why would I? I would just shut my eyes, cover myself up with my blanket, pray, and hope for the best! Yup.

Safe Haven Troubles

May 27, 2013 0
Safe Haven Troubles
I was kind of hesitant to watch Safe Haven because I was thinking, I'm not really ready for heavy drama or something because I'm keener in watching travel related films as of the moment and this I downloaded (illegally) because I've heard quite a lot of good things about it. Michelle Phan's review is one. I also read reviews online and even though I was not ready for a heavy film, I watched it anyways. Just to get over it. There were quite a lot of bad reviews saying it's a bad movie with bad actors and stuff but actually, I kind of liked it. Okay let's just put it out there! For some reason, I always see something good in a movie or like everything but whatever. Except probably the movie When in Rome. Okay, maybe the Rome part was okay.

I don't think I'm spoiling the movie because it's been out for a while now so here it goes. The movie started like it's some sort of a horror story which confused me a little bit. I didn't like it. I  was like, ME NO LIKEY HEAVY DRAMA THIS TIME MORE SO HORROR! This movie is about a girl named Erin or Katie who's married to an alcoholic police officer named Kevin who she unintentionally stabbed because she was trying to defend herself from this drunkard so yeah. After she stabbed the guy, she decided to leave and she went to a small town. I think there's a little difference when it comes to the place between the book and the movie but it doesn't matter.

The bus stopped over a convenience store which is owned by a fine man named Alex with apparently two kids. The story is that his wife died of cancer so he's taking care of his two kids. Just saying. Okay and then for some reason, this Katie decided not to go back up the bus anymore and just stayed there. She entered a kind of little restaurant and then she asked if they need a hand or something and then she got hired. She also found a place to stay and then that's pretty much what she needed, yeah? After some time, she found a girl outside her place named Jo and then she was a little bit skeptical at first but they became friends anyway. And then she was giving Katie advice and stuff like that. So okay. Whatever.

You're probably wondering why is there a drawing of a camera at the beginning. Well the reason is, there's this one scene where the family went to the beach and then Alex's son didn't want his pictures taken and asked why he's kept taking pictures and then Alex was like, I want to remember this moment. And then his son said try to remember what's out of the camera. And I was like, STOP RIGHT THERE YOUNG MAN. Even the greatest wizard of them all needs a Pensieve so you can just stop right there kid. Just kidding. So yeah. And with that being said, must take more pictures from now on!

Okay so Alex and Katie kind of fell in love which is probably the predictable part and then on the later part, Alex found out that Katie is a wander murdered and that her real name is Erin and then he immediately asked her to leave. Katie then thought that it's really the best thing to do and just packed her things and there's this friend Jo who asked her not to and to figure things out but she disregarded that and proceeded with her plan to leave. Okay so then Alex followed her and told her not to leave anymore which in reality would make me angry because that's like wasting energy and resources. I'm just saying. So yeah that happened.

And then on the Fourth of July, this drunkard was able to reach the town where Katie is and can I just say that I was impressed by this guy's determination but nothing else. So when he reached the town, he searched here and there and then he found where Katie lived and because Katie didn't want to return to him she asked him to leave! When he returned, he poured gasoline everywhere and then because they're having a Firework show and stuff, it somehow hit that gasoline spot and then the house was lit on fire. Good thing Alex saw it and he was able to return and rescue his daughter who Katie asked to stay upstairs right away when Alex left because she's obviously aware what her husband is capable of. So when the daughter was saved, Katie was able to shot Alex and again it was because she was trying to protect herself.

So Alex was able to save some things from that fire incident and then he gave her a letter addressed TO HER and it somehow moved me. Basically, it said something like take care of her family and help her daughter on her wedding day and stuff like that and then, there's a photo included in that which is like the twist because the friend she met there which is Jo is the same person as the deceased wife of Alex. I already expected that because I searched, right? But it was still a turning point and somehow still shocking. Or moving.

I don't think that it is a shabby movie or something because I like the story. In real life, we're not perfect actors and actresses because you know how they sometimes exaggerate normal life scenario on films right? That's not what you call good, people. I think it was quite believable but not rubbish at all. I like the twist that happened. I mean, I would probably freak out if I found out that I was talking to a dead person all through out but I like it. I like how family oriented the film is and you know. I think it's rare though to see a man like that and I think it might be a little too fictional or probably it's just me but I actually admire that kind of character. As of my favorite character, I think Jo is my favorite character. She's very thoughtful and lovable and I think she gave me an idea of writing letters to certain people when time comes. I don't know. Try to watch it guys. I mean, if you're into family oriented films, this is nice. That's all I have to say.

Dear Juliet

May 14, 2013 0
Dear Juliet

I watched Letters to Juliet awhile ago because not so long ago, I've searched for movies set in Europe and this is one of the recommendations. Totally out of the topic (as always) but I've watched Bourne Legacy, LOL, Under the Tuscan Sun, Midnight in Paris, When in Rome, 2 Days in Paris, Monte Carlo, and Leters to Juliet from that recommendation thingy. I may have missed one or two but it doesn't matter. This particular movie is kind of  a little bit cheesy for me but considering that I searched to kind of see Europe, this one's nice. As a side note, I'd like to work as one of Juliet's secretaries. I think I would have fun writing letters to people. I just like the whole idea of it but I'm not really sure whether or not I'm Juliet enough to write them back or something but who cares? I figured I like writing.

Also! I don't believe the Sophie and the guy's love because come on! I mean, seriously? It all happened too soon. Like, 3 days? I don't even know! I feel sorry for Victor but Sophie has a point for breaking up and he weren't exactly NA-JANINE TUGONON because really, if you'll go on a pre-honeymoon or pre-moon whatever, I think it's not quite right to be okay spending it on your own way. The two of you should always want to be with each other. Duh? But kudos to Victor for accepting the fact that sometimes, shit happens.

By the way, here's a postcard update. I feel bad for not having the time to write to my postcard exchange mates because of internship and stuff so I'll probably play catch up these coming days or weeks or whatever.  Thank you guys! :)

Malta - 4 | Curaçao - 1 | South Africa - 1 | Poland - 1 | USA - 1 | Canada - 1 | Belgium - 5

As of now, BELGIUM IS STILL NUMBER 1. YAY! :) If you're sort of interested in exchanging postcards, let me know! :) Anyways, I would really love to take a look at Casa di Giulietta in Verona just to see things and stuff.

Dr. Ted Grey is LOVE

April 12, 2013 1
Dr. Ted Grey is LOVE

If all PATHOLOGISTS look like this, GURL! Haha so just a little back story, I think I was first year in college when this movie came out and we were at the mall, right? I saw the showing date and then we intended to watch it (of course) and then we couldn't make it on the first day so we just decided to come back the other day but then when we returned, they're not showing it na. WHUT? Anyways, I illegally downloaded the movie and watched it just now and what can I say? Kind of weird for a game, you know. Basically they have to kill people but not just to kill! They have to do it in such a way that no one would know how exactly they did it. It's sort of a game that them resident pathologists play. And I'm kind of proud that I got one out of so many. I'm not PATHO (yet, perhaps). So yeah. I wouldn't go into detail but I am very impressed with the ending.

I actually witnessed doctors play games probably twice. Not this kind of games where they kill people of course. They probably wouldn't let us know about that but what I witnessed was one time, I received a specimen for pregnancy test, right? And then two physicians went straight to the laboratory (which is not always legal) and waited for the result. And when I said NEGATIVE, one of them said "YES! I WON". And then one time, the bet was to guess the TURN AROUND TIME of a CBC result for a particular patient and stuff so yeah.

Oh and speaking of PATHOLOGY, I forgot to post these pictures from our last duty feast at the PATHOLOGY OFFICE.

Our last night duty so we decided to have a little celebration. Ordered buttered and garlic chicken, pancit, Shanghai rolls, cake, and ice cream.

Hers and Mine.

March 15, 2013 0
Hers and Mine.
Like I said, I was catching up with movies and this time, I'm gonna review Bourne Identity. Well not really review though. Just gonna say something about it and what my opinions on it are and stuff like that. Actually, I watched When in Rome before Bourne but it was so kinda walang kwenta kaya 'wag nalang. Haha. This one is like an old film na. Released 2002 pa. Pero anyways.

So it is about Jason Bourne, an assassin who lost his memory. He was found floating by some fishermen sort of. The guy who was cutting his body sort of found out that he got shot and yeah good thing there's someone in the boat who knows how to remove it from his body and all that stuff. And then the interesting part was there was a tiny laser kind of bullet found in his hip and when the doctor/that someone flashed it on the wall, it revealed his bank number. Okay so fast forward.

The cops were everywhere looking for him and he don't know why. He still got the skills though. Fighting and all that self defense stuff. Then he had to go to Paris but riding a train's too dangerous and everything else so he followed the girl in the front of the line when he was in the US Embassy and kind of heard her problem that she's broke and all that. So he offered him 10 grand for a ride to Paris and that he'll give him another 10 when they get there. And then the girl kind of put herself in danger by actually doing that but even though Jason Bourne, the assassin I was talking about already instructed her to go to the police and say everything she knows to clear her name but she didn't. Oh well. And so she was then part of the target. Like, she went with him everywhere and then she was given a chance to go away with Jason Bourne's remaining money and even though she doesn't want to go, she did.

Jason Bourne then fixed things and when he was able to, he was able to find the girl and yeah. Happy ending.
