Ramen 壱角家 Sagamihara

Ramen 壱角家 Sagamihara

Second nearest ramen house from my place so you know what that means! Food trip!

stamp card

I have been here a total of 5 times I guess. It's not fantastic but it's not bad either so I'm not really mad about it.

This is one of the modern ramen houses around town which I'm okay with but you know I kinda prefer the old school kind of shops where you just see everything being done in front of you.

alcoholic coke and chashu tonkotsu ramen

The chashu was very delightful! I liked it.

tonkotsu ramen

This is probably my favorite. I mean, I know I vowed to only compare chashu ramen from ramen shops but you know it's good to come back couple of times to compare a couple of items from the shop itself as well.

Ajitama Ramen

It's a very common ramen shop and you can always find similar tasting ramen everywhere here in Japan so yeah. That's all!

Osakura Ramen Review

Osakura Ramen Review
The OG! This is my family's favorite ramen place ever since. I've been going here since I was 9 or something. Man, that's a solid 16 years. Delicious place!

mamita

Gyoza! Also probably the tastiest gyoza I've had in a while.

Traditional Ramen. Always a winner! Like how I remember it.

The fam after we went to Yomiuri. Ramen is life.

family

Mika, Mari, and I had this finish the ramen challenge and Mika and I nailed it.  Mari, however, made her ramen like a sinigang or paksiw by adding too much vinegar so you already know.

I went alone the next time and so glad it's relatively kind of near to my place and that I can just go anytime.

Yassssss! チャシュ is always the best way to test a ramen place and this one passed big time but the plain ramen is more of my thing. That's it!

Kagetsu Arashi Ramen Review

Kagetsu Arashi Ramen Review

チャシュ

Delicious. When I decided to do this Ramen Review, I swear I only intended to sample the チャシュ in every restaurant but my lack of imagination in describing things made me put up more items from the menu in hope that I'll be more credible. NOT.

This place is kind of a go-to place because it's very near my place and it got probably two more branches nearby so it's hard to miss. Also, I love the mildness of the ramen here.

After work.

Yokohama something something. I don't actually remember the name. The ramen was good! I'm just upset that there wasn't an egg.

Ramen. My favorite!

There was a point in my life when I liked eating fatty food or like, always craving for it and man, this was like a game changer. So fatty and so good!

This one was sooo good as well. I realize I'm not a fan of very spicy noodles but this one is bearable and delicious. Something about extremely spicy food is that it's hard to enjoy the food but no problem in this one!!

The Golden Miso something. Not that good to be honest.

 Nira

Three years ago, when I was new here in this area, tita mentioned this ramen place for the first time and she mentioned that they have delicious Nira so we should go.

Condiments

There are lots of branches of this place so I'm so sure it'd be easy to locate one near you. If you ever have a chance, try a bowl of ramen and yeah, ciao!

Shibuhide Ramen Review

Shibuhide Ramen Review

As you can see (or not) from my long hair, I've started this quest quite a while back and I just finished it recently. Yay!

I learned about this place from my favorite blogger Xiaxue's Instagram and I was like, must go!! So glad that it's on the way! Can't thank Tokyo work enough! It's quite hard to find for those who are not familiar with Shibuya but you know, just have to look out for it!

Around Christmas Time

Shibuhide Ramen

This is the best ramen that I had here and everywhere else for that matter! This is heaven in a bowl! That 3 layers of fat! I loved! And! It got everything you could ever ask for in a ramen. This is like 5/5 in my book! This is quite a surprise.

Tontoro Ramen

For some reason, I didn't enjoy this as much. It's so fatty!!!!! I don't really know if it's just a bad bowl or something but yeah I hardly (I did!) finished this one.

Kakuna Ramen

This also! Too fatty for me. Didn't even enjoy that 3 layers of fatty goodness anymore. I don't know. It's just me, I guess.

Karai Tonkotsu

This one is okay. Like I told you, I'm not the type who just give up on things so I was like, maybe if it's a little spicy, won't be that fatty. My goodness it wasn't that fatty but it was hella spicy and I was like, same difference. So yeah, I suggest you try the Shibuhide Ramen because man, that alone made me want to go back despite the other ramen not being "that good". Ciao!

Ichiran Ramen Japan

Check List

Also, the one in Harajuku, I didn't wait as long as I waited in Shibuya. Which is always nice!

Ramen

You can see the first time I tried Ichiran in this post. Totally different vibe but still not as good as I expected.

I retried Ichiran because I don't want to not like it. As much as I don't like mainstream anything, I can't just let this go. But then again it didn't turn out exactly like I want to so I retried again. Persistence is key.

This is already the best combination I could imagine. Steamed Pork with Nori, Special Vinegar, and Ramen. I also changed my list a little by ordering them to put a stronger tasting broth but it didn't make a significant difference.

Steamed Pork
My Ramen

I remember hearing two Japanese guys sitting beside me talking how they missed and really like it but no! Not me. But you know! Still! I might give this another try someday but now, it's just not my cup of tea. Ciao!

Nagahama Ramen Review

Nagahama Ramen Review

There are quite a lot of ramen places in Japan. It's Japan so it's given that all their ramen places are better than everywhere else in the world. However, the competition is still up in Japan.

This ramen place is one competitive player. I've learned about this place thru a co-worker and hella thankful they did tell me about this. Speaking of competition, they do have a challenge here where you can win a shirt and a place where you can brag on the wall. The challenge is you have to finish 7 servings of noodles. I don't know if I can do it (no) but it's not impossible because they don't have much place left on their walls. Go Bry! ;)

Ramen places here in Japan especially in the city are mostly modernized but this one is like still semi-vintage. And for some reason, I still like this kind of set-up where you still see the workers manually doing their thing.

My Ramen Buddy

Ramen buddy who's always craving for this ramen. Even joked that he'd go alone when I'm gone. I say joked because this place is more than 3 hours away from him. Hahaha

Mine is on the left and Bry's on the right. He always get their big serving and for some reason, we finish at the same time. I don't think I eat slow. He's just so fast.

Also, we discovered another favorite of ours. Chahan. So yeah. Win-win. In fairness the ramen here is really really tasty. As in tasty. Must have been their meat concoction that they put in the broth. If you can, do try out Nagahama Ramen. You won't regret it. Ciao!

Ramen in PH? | Taisho Ramen

September 21, 2013 0
Ramen in PH? | Taisho Ramen
So I have told you about me not being a fan of Japanese food here in the Philippines but hey! This is just a proof that we shouldn't generalize things. Dad's friends recommended this and it was really worth trying.

Can I just say that it's pretty affordable. I mean, Ramen in Japan is usually 580 and above so that would be like 240 pesos or something.

Family picture. I was wearing yellow to support the Salinggawi Dance Troupe but yah know! FAIL.

Mika! Nothing really special about this picture. I like to call this a filler. Hahaha peace Mika. Oh can I just say that I like the interior! It's not very Japanese but it can give you that feel. This is at Taisho Ramen if you're wondering.

Not the best ramen I've tasted but this one is hella better from the rest I've tasted here in the Philippines. This one is close. I like everything about this bowl of ramen. Except probably the way they offer you the garlic. Usually in Japan, they kind of blended the garlic already whilat here in this place, they serve it by clove and then they give you this device which is quite confusing and hard to operate. Anyways, will try more from that store. Almost everyone ordered the same except for my mom who is not a fan of ramen. Well except when we're in Japan. :)
