Oh-no You Didn't

Oh-no You Didn't

Aloha guys! How are you? Me, you ask? Well hanging by a thread. But it's better than not hanging at all, aye? I just want to share to you guys an experience which might or might not be relevant to each other but whatever! Also, can I just share that yesterday, I was searching for the perfect picture to attach right?, and I didn't know what to put so I just searched "Just Keep Swimming" from Finding Nemo on We Heart It and saved it on my phone then on my way home, the guy in front of me, an athletic cute guy from University of the East if you may, have a tattoo on his wrist/arm and then from my position, all I could see was 'ard' so I was thinking maybe it's the last letters of his name so I settled for that but then after a while he kind of rested his arm on his lap and then I probably looked so weird and creepy that time but I really tried hard to read it with its weird font and stuff and then it turned out that it's "KEEP MOVING FORWARD" so I was pleased that the picture is meant to be here. No matter what. Anyways.

Oh can I just say that I want a tattoo so bad now. But then I promised myself that I wouldn't get one until I was able to donate at least 1 gallon of blood so yeah. I must keep that promise.

Okay so my kwento is about this. Yesterday, at about lunch time, I was at McDonald's right? Then beside me was an old guy and then I didn't notice him until 2 girls from Far Eastern University came in and then he offered his seat but the girls just ignored her. How mean of them (I thought). And I'm a little bit nosey so I thought that they're together and stuff and that the girls just didn't want to be with him on the same table. So then when he dropped his pen near my place, I took it, right? Because it's effin near my place and I thought he's already old and might not be able to pick it up on his own and anyway that's just what a normal person would do, yeah? I returned his pen to him and he was sooo thankful and asked me to transfer to his table. I did. WHAT WAS I THINKING? Like, seriously. He asked me where I came from and all that but don't worry guys! I didn't tell him the truth. I should be sorry about that but I was just protecting myself, you know. Okay so told me stuff like really random stuff like he told me he used to work for Mitsubishi and some random Japanese companies and then he said something about Shinzo Abe and that he told me that The Filipinos prefer the Japanese than the Chinese (no offense) because of that Spratly Islands issue and then just because I told him, he told me he studied journalism in UST and that it is his favorite alma mater and that he also studied in UP, University of Georgia and then somewhere else. He also told me he's a lawyer and just waiting for a client that is already late he added. He whispered "annulment". So after a while he told me he would go to Quiapo Church instead and then he was like "oh that reminds me of something" he then took his envelope full of stuff and then brought out an envelope. I SAW THAT COMING. He's actually an English speaking man so I didn't doubted right away but I somehow saw that coming. He told me that it's for donation and stuff and then told him I don't have extra money. He told me it doesn't have to be that big and I was like, even though. I told him I don't carry money around because it's dangerous and stuff which he bought so whatever. LOL. So then I hurried and left the crime scene. Because cheeseburgers. How have you been, guys?

Why English is Important. Random Ramblings.

Why English is Important. Random Ramblings.

They say that if you can speak the English language, you're cool, intelligent, probably well educated, or maybe rich, or whatever. That's what they say. At least in the Philippines. NOT MY OPINION. I mean, it's kind of common now and I don't know what these people think. Anyways. I really appreciate the language because if I can't speak and understand English, well, we wouldn't be talking like this right now wouldn't we? And I probably wouldn't be able to watch HOUSE which is my favorite T.V. series by the way. I am not saying that I am the BEST ENGLISH speaker or writer or whatever (not even close) because you know, I don't know if you noticed but I can't really keep my tenses consistent so leave it alone.

I actually didn't want to do this at first but dad made me do it. Here's why. While my sister and I were watching Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son and then dad asked us if we can understand everything they're saying in the film and we said YES. He didn't believe us but anyways, I don't know what's wrong with him or something because you know, we're learning it from school so why wouldn't we understand it fully? Is it impossible for us to learn? My theory is that my dad doesn't want to admit we're better than him at some point. LOL. Dad actually took an English class at age 50, I guess. In Japan.

Why is English IMPORTANT, really? I am always proud that in Japan, you have to do the adjustments. I mean, don't expect all the JAPANESE people to speak English for you. You have to speak Japanese to be able to speak to them. But that's not my point. I don't even know why I mentioned that but since that's kind of on my mind, let it be. Back to my point now, I don't think mastering the English language is necessary. As long as you can express yourself and stuff, good to go. I can't help but share you this. Well, a little bit later. I don't even know if this is legit but a friend of mine who's studying Medicine showed this to me and some of our other friends.

This is not to say that Filipinos can't speak proper English of course. One thing about PGH is that it's like United Nations and coincidentally, it actually can be found in U.N. Avenue. I don't know what I think about this. I have experienced talking to foreign doctors who are practicing in the Philippines but I haven't encountered a doctor like this. So far. Now can we just take a loot at number 6 all together, please? UNFORGIVABLE! Whoever wrote that probably deserves a one way ticket to AZKABAN. I mean, seriously? That's a mortal sin right there. The rest are okay. I mean, laughable but somehow understandable. The moist and dry thingy confused me as heck as well but whatever. There are times when we don't really have to be sooo proper with our English and all that but there are times when English should be properly executed. Say, MEDICAL RECORDS. That's all I have to say actually. Ciao!

The U.P. Experience.

The U.P. Experience.
Good news guys! Thesis done! :)) Happy kid! Okay so I promise myself not to blog about this until we've submitted all our requirements so I'm free to do so now.

We held our thesis experiment proper at the University of the Philippines, Manila mainly because University of Santo Tomas doesn't rear mosquitoes that we can use for the experiment. Our Thesis Adviser recommended us there and so yeah.

Me and le friend/thesis mate.

We made use of the Parasitology laboratory which is like, cool. It's not the usual air-conditioned UST type of laboratory and it's like very vintage looking so I like it. After our Thesis Oral Defense, le friend and I were talking about how we encompassed everything and we were talking about how we liked the U.P. experience and stuff and we were also thankful on how nice our U.P. mentors were during our stay there.

Let's Talk Cheer Dance.

September 22, 2012 0
Let's Talk Cheer Dance.
Well, being in the UST, it's given that I will support whatever competition or just about whatever UST will be in.

Now let's talk about the 2012 Samsung Cheer Dance Competition, shall we? I wasn't exactly pleased by the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe's performance but they did fairly okay. Quite disappointing, yeah. But...well...I don't know. It's been a while since we won this competition but we aren't the worst that there is. I mean, who gets disappointed by the performance of UE? Get my point? And that's not to bash them or whatever. But you get my point, right? Thanks. So actually, I want to bring back memories by sharing you this post from my previous blog host or whatevs.

Oh well. I was actually pretty impressed by their performance 2 years ago but unfortunately, they didn't win. I'm assuming because we weren't the host. But that's just me being bitter so never mind. So 2 years ago, we won 3rd. Last year, I am also pretty impressed by their performance and we just placed 4th. I don't know what place are we in now though. But it doesn't matter for now. I'm guessing 4th. Anyways. Here's a little rant I did last year.

So yeah. Moving on... I wasn't so pleased with the performance of the UP PEP SQUAD. First time in three years. I don't know why though. I like the passion of the dancers though. I super love the girls' dedication to even cut their hair short like that, WOW. But thinking about it, probably, their performance now is probably just not as great as their performance last time so yeah. I don't know if it's just me but I liked FEU's performance better. It's flawless. But then again...well.

UST's performance was okay. It should have been better because like, everything's going well but it ended too soon. I think they lacked some element of surprise and stuff. The theme was also "WTH" not because of the theme itself but they weren't able to really own that theme. Oh well. That's all I want to talk about. Things already happened. And yup! THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

P.S. After 2 years, I still think that the lady in front should have won STUNNER.
