Seoul Day 1 | Museum/Bukchon

Seoul Day 1 | Museum/Bukchon

Hello, Korea!

It was hella cold. Okay, thank Sue Ramirez for the weather update and all that but Seoul in winter is cold as hell. Not that I would know but...you get the point. I actually packed a lot of warm clothes because I’m prepared like that. Haha! My first day in Seoul was wonderful! I got to explore the city like I did with my friend Pring before. It was as if I never left.

I first went to the hotel and rested there for a bit. Unpacked my stuff, settled, and may have napped a little bit. I actually booked the same hotel as before too!

Palace

After resting, I decided this is it. Time to explore! And I did. Oh me and my high heels girl! But whatever, you know! I planned to go to Bukchon Village first but on my way there, dropped by The National Folk Museum as well. It was awesome!

It was not as pretty as it was on Spring though. No flowers. But it gives it character. The emptiness.

Museum

I don’t even know.

Found this one while I’m finding my way to the village. Can’t relate.

Bukchon Village

They were having a little protest going on there. Basically, they’re trying to eliminate tourists going near their houses. I mean, I would probably do that too. I mean, silent tourists I don’t have a problem with but oh my gosh, the others I will happily kick in the butt you know what I mean?

Bukchon Village

Seoul Tower

The view from the top.

Hot Pancake. Yas. Sooo oily.

After that, went to a small place and ate Bibimbap because Korea. It was awesome! And a fun first day I should say. Annyeong~

Gyeongbokgung Palace | When in Seoul

Gyeongbokgung Palace | When in Seoul

Standing with a Guard

I heard that this don't happen often? But we were lucky to be able to watch the Changing of Guards ceremony. It's quite a show.

Basically, from hundreds (thousands?) of years ago, guards from a palace would guard another palace and so on...

The Guards

To be honest, I have no idea about these palaces. To give you an idea how clueless I was, I didn't even watch Jewels in the Palace. But I did watch Princess Hours though but that's only because I like the cousin of the Crowned Prince (the blonde). Irrelevant, I know. Anyways. There are 4 palaces that went to I believe. But if you don't have an idea like me, you wouldn't even know.

They all look the same. Like, I heard one tour guide said that the difference is the guards? The guards there are you know, the Chinese Zodiac thingy. Like Mushu in Mulan.

Imagine this is your backyard.

Beauty

This building is a hollow structure. I have no idea but it's quite a view.

Garden thing?

Then there's only one place where you can look inside and I don't even know the significance.

It's not very impressive. Again, I don't know. We should have signed up for the tour so at least we know the story behind everything. Well the excuse is, we squeezed in too much activity for that day that we couldn't afford waiting for tour time both in Japanese and English so we just pretended we appreciated what we saw. It's beautiful but I guess knowing what's up and what happened would be a lot more interesting. I'll come back for this.

So yeah I strongly suggest you do the tour or else everything will just look like a temple or something.

Dongdaemun | When in Seoul

Dongdaemun | When in Seoul

This is the first time I went to Seoul and the first stop is Dongdaemun Market. We went there basically to meet my buddy's dad. So yeah after airport, we went straight to the market. No idea hahaha.

It was a mall-ish type of place. The one we went to more than twice is Migliore Mall. A lot of cheap stuff! We went there and got really amazed. Maybe because there's no equivalent place here in Japan. In the Philippines though, there's 168 in Divisoria! Much much cheaper but that 's besides the point.

So after we checked the shops floor by floor, we went to eat dinner. At this point, I'm not really hungry but I'm so happy that I get to taste my first authentic Korean dish. It was spicy! But delicious.

I love that the staffs kept coming to our table to mix and check on our food even though obviously we can just do it ourselves. Got me really confused there.

Korean buildings are usually of interesting structure. Like, irregular thing. This one reminds me of that building in Shinjuku that got me confused as well. It's pretty at night though with all the lights on.

Streetfoods!

Picture time

Yummy Korean barbecues

Potato Corndog

On the second day, we went back because my buddy said she'll buy something but ya know! Didn't happen hahaha. But we managed to eat a lot of street foods which is awesome! The barbecue though! So spicy considering we didn't order the spiciest! How can people eat that kind of stuff? Goodness gracious. But the cheese one is good!

Badass

Also, they were having this B-Boy battle when we went. As we still have time, we managed to watch a battle. It was good! Definitely a place for Sunday events. Quite interesting.

On our third day, we came back because buddy told me she'll buy the stuff she's been meaning to buy already. Thank goodness! She should have bought it on the first day but anyways. Food!

It's a small restaurant underground and we have suceeded in finding small restaurants where local people would usually eat and yeah. Loved it!

Also, we've ordered so much food that we were in food coma for a couple of hours. Not complaining.

The pork sausage is a winner! Although I suggest that you consume everything while it's warm. That's our Dongdaemun adventure. Ciao!

When in Seoul

When in Seoul

As we all know, I have been wanting to go to Seoul ever since I can remember. What was that? 2009? Yes! I've waited that long and I ain't backing up you know. We were actually supposed to go August but yeah we kind of went earlier than planned but it was very much needed so, yeah. Not complaining. Very timely for I am in a situation where everything's kind of a blur.

Narita Terminal 1

I have planned a 4-day trip to the city and here's my run down of the events. I will be posting a somehow in depth story of this though. But give me time, people! Hahaha

 Best Western Hotel

Migliore Mall

Anyways, Day 1 was okay. We left Narita at around 5 and arrived in Incheon National Airport at around 8. The bus guide dropped us to the hotel and we wasted no time and we went to this shopping place at Dongdaemun. After going up and down the shopping place, we then had dinner. It was okay. At this point, we were not really hungry but managed to eat anyways haha. Also, after some ikot-ikot there, totally out of the plan, we went straight to Ittaewon because we wanted to see the night life of people.

Bukchon Hanok Village Deck

This Might be of Importance

Day 2 was the busiest day for us. We went to the palaces, War Memorial, National Museum, Seoul Tower, Myeongdong, and Dongdaemun again.

Lotte World

Day 3 we allotted to LOTTE WORLD. But somehow we managed to go to Dongdaemun again. I actually like Myeongdong more than Dongdaemun but you know, complications.

Cheonggyecheon Stream

Day 4 was our last day. It was sad. But we managed to check out the Cheonggye Plaza and Stream before bus picked us up and dropped us to the airport. So that happened. It was overall a good trip. I can't wait to be back! Soon, please! Ciao!
