Caretta Shiodome Illumination 2016

Image
This may be the most beautiful/spectacular Illumination that I've been so far. It's also by far the smallest venue and I was like meh when I first got there without all the lights and all that. I was not that impressed when they turn on the lights even but man, they have a show and that's what makes it so beautiful.  I found out about this place whilst watching Terrace House on Netflix and I thought it'd be bigger but yeah whatevs. Also, can I just say that I've been really loving Terrace House in general? So I was like, must go! This is the place Arisa Ohata rejected Arman Bitaraf! Because WTF! Arman should have chosen my girl Mizuki. Okay enough fangirling and also I know Arman is already happy with my homegirl Masako.  I seriously can't get over the illumination show that I watched it 3 times. It was so cold that time so thank goodness the show is only like 5 or 10 minutes apart I don't remember which but I remember it's only a short interval between ...

Shinjuku Illumination 2016

Image
I may have already mentioned here (or elsewhere) how I feel about Shinjuku. But you know, that didn't stop me from going there anyways. TBH, I still feel a little creeped out by it but whatever, you know.  Selfie It would have looked cooler in my eyes if I haven't seen the Meguro first.  Rose Gold and Gold lights Gorgeous! I don't know if this is just coincidence but it was so cool! having them lined up like that.   I went after work and was surprised that it's kind of like the one in Meguro. It's not Sakura Pink though. It's a combination of what looks like Rose Gold and Gold lights which is a very subtle twist. I thought it's be the same colorful lights from 2014 but I guess they do change things a little every year. I should be back! Ciao!

Yokohama Illumination 2016

I went there and took pictures. Man, I can't even with this place. I don't know if I should already be bitter or whatnot. JK! Been there done that. Twice. I'll never get tired adoring this. So much beauty to even acknowledge the hate. One regret that I had is that I didn't try their food whilst I was there. Well I was gonna eat somewhere else so I had to control myself lol. The smell of the surroundings is so tempting though. I have to be back next time! They also have the ice skating rink set-up but also didn't try that one. Next time! The Bell Also went to Motomachi but none of the shops were still open when I went so that's less the fun I guess so I have to somehow be back next time. I think.  It was freaking cold that there's barely anyone walking just for fun. Yas Minato-Mirai Station Cute Winter Ish Theme Cosmo Clock I also caught a flu after this. Not good, my friend. Ciao!

Ebisu Illumination 2016

Image
It was quite a quick trip but I really enjoyed that time. I didn't know that I actually went on the last day of the illumination. Like, what? Talk about luck. It's very near work too so yay. It's not your typical walk in the park place though. It's Tokyo-ish. Busy. Crowded. Meh. Chandelier! The bulbs represent how many years the chandelier is and I believe it's more or less 250. Don't take my word for it though. This place is a short path that's quite irrelevant but lit up in blue anyways. Not the Christmas Tree I'm referring to Also missed the Christmas Tree! Meh. I will get back to it soon. If I remember. Also, am I the only sad person here because I didn't take a selfie? Mmmm. It's just not quite my blogging style if there's no selfie. Anyways. I'm starting to type non-sense. So bye!  Ciao!

Santa Monica Crepes | Harajuku

Image
If you've ever been to this part of Tokyo, you'd know that it's all about crepes. Or maybe just like one of our customers from New York said, "TOO KIDDY". Anyways. I decided to try Santa Monica crepes because they have 2 shops in one street and that made me think this place is good. Let's see!  Chocolate Banana (Double Whipped) Classic. I mean, if there's a crepe shop that can mess this up, I don't even know if they have the right to operate. Back when I was still a kid and less complicated, this is my go-to flavor because you know, can't be bothered with all the fancy flavors and stuff. This is not top of the roof good but it was a familiar taste.  Strawberry something  This was delicious! The balance was so good! This combo might be my favorite in the sweet department.  Matcha  Hype. I didn't like this as much as I liked the strawberry one. But it was also good.  Pizza Crepe Yaaasaassss! My fave! I was actually hesitant to try their food sele...

Ichiran Ramen Japan

Image
Ichiran Selfie Ichiran Vending Machine Check List  Also, the one in Harajuku, I didn't wait as long as I waited in Shibuya. Which is always nice!  Ramen  You can see the first time I tried Ichiran in this post. Totally different vibe but still not as good as I expected.  I retried Ichiran because I don't want to not like it. As much as I don't like mainstream anything, I can't just let this go. But then again it didn't turn out exactly like I want to so I retried again. Persistence is key. This is already the best combination I could imagine. Steamed Pork with Nori, Special Vinegar, and Ramen. I also changed my list a little by ordering them to put a stronger tasting broth but it didn't make a significant difference.  Steamed Pork I remember hearing two Japanese guys sitting beside me talking how they missed and really like it but no! Not me. But you know! Still! I might give this another try someday but now, it's just not my cup of tea. Ciao!

Meguro River Illumination 2016

Image
Selfie Conveniently just 15 minutes away from work, I decided to go after my shift and was left in surprise with what I saw. Well nothing there yet when I arrived because it's quite early but you get the point. When the clock chimed at 5pm, everything suddenly turned pink. It was magical.  Meguro Gawa Minna no Illumination  Pink Lights  Supposed to look like Sakura trees and it did not fail. Loved its water reflection even.  I'm sure professional photographers would just laugh at the shot above but I was quite impressed with this little failure to focus shot as I would like to call it. I felt like a princess walking around her own garden for a sec.  I actually wonder if they're Sakura trees. I bet it's just as beautiful during Spring. I should be back!  Fairy tale-ish trail. I was impressed with this place because you know, very quiet because for some reason, one little thing I hate about Tokyo is that it's kind of touristy and I find it really hard to bre...
