Just a Message Away

June 02, 2013 0
Just a Message Away
I can remember the times when cellphones cannot function without credits. Now, it's like so easy to keep in touch. But of course you still have to have wi-fi connection or that LTE shiz I don't know anything about. Anyways, I want to review 3 of the relatively new (to me) messaging apps out in the market right now. WeChat, Line, and Kik. I hope this helps you a little bit. I'm gonna say it ahead now, I used an app called CocoPPa to like design those three apps but then again I wouldn't probably keep it because you can't delete the original one so what's the point? Also! The notification wouldn't actually appear on top of the customized app. The way this would make the phone pretty is that when you already downloaded all the pretty icons, out the original ones at the end so it wouldn't like ruin the whole pretty icons idea. Anyways.

To be fair though, I actually have Line and Kik for quite a while now. Probably a year now. But then one day, WeChat monopolized Facebook and  Instagram and I was like, what the heck is happening here? And then I asked my sister what it is and she was like, I have it na. It was advertised kasi. When I watched the commercial, it was pretty impressive and I don't blame the general population for wanting to be part of it right away. But then yesterday ago, I decided to download it because I thought I would just like see it for myself. And so I did. And then the usual registration stuff right, after all is done, I saw 10 of my friends right away. That's like how overrated it is. Can I just say that I only have Line and Kik because I used to use them to talk to my auntie in Japan. Because it's really cheaper that way. I used to exchange regular international messages with her before these apps happened so thank goodness, right? But now I actually talk to my friends with both those apps so whatever. My mom also used them to remind me at night to turn off the wi-fi when I'm not using it anymore.

IRRELEVANT COLLAGE
So my verdict? I don't really see the hype that much. My sister described We Chat as Facebook but without the games. The reason I liked it is that I actually had an important conversation with a co-intern and friend of mine so that really made WeChat kind of useful to me. At the end of the conversation though, she was like, beware of the Look Around. I didn't ask what it is about but I thought it was like 'Who's Viewed Me' and that I should be careful who's profile I'm looking at or something but then after a while, I found out that it's like people 'around' you messaging you and stuff. It's not totally useless and a waste of time because my high school classmate messaged me there. It can get annoying after a while though. I feel like it's made so public. If you don't want to expose your location and don't want strangers messaging you, go for Line. As of the other features, I still think Line wins. I haven't played using Line though but they have games (not useful to me), camera (for editing), and other stuff. WeChat is kind of like that but without the games and the camera. Also, I found out that WeChat's stickers are very much Line's but still kind of underdeveloped. Well Line started like that so we shouldn't probably underestimate it. Kik is like very minimalist. You can't do anything about it. Deal with it. I actually think I like Line better than the other two.

ARTISTS I FOLLOW ON LINE
Also, Line also have a feature where you can join or follow or add FAMOUS CELEBRITIES but I just don't know how personal their official Line is to the artists but I like that it is somehow a gateway for the fans to connect to their idols. Mostly Korean idols so if you're into K-Pop, you might lean towards Line more than anything. JYJ is like fun to follow. They send in pictures and stickers and crazy stuff. You know what I think? This is kind of like Twitter, I figured. It's like Twitter but with a more personal approach. It's like them messaging you personally and stuff. Which is always nice, yeah? Can I just say that I like this fans-artists feature of Line more than KakaoTalk because it can get annoying on Kakao. I'm just saying. But me likey KakaoTalk! But that's another story. So that's my sort of view and I really hope I helped you or you were able to pick up something.
LINE ★★★★ | WeChat ★★★ | Kik ★★★

Memory Corner | Flashback Friday 2

Memory Corner | Flashback Friday 2

1. I believe I got these Kisses from my mom together with some other stuff on my 20th Birthday. My likey chocolates! But not as much as Blueberry Cheesecake! Okay never mind. LOL. Can I just share that in Japan, or even in Korea and probably some other places, it's the ladies' job to make chocolates to the guy they like but in the Philippines, it's kind of the reverse so it's somehow interesting. I remember my Hidemi told me a story about her making a guy mini chocolates but didn't give it because when she asked another friend to taste it, the friend told her that it looks like poop. LOL. On another note, I guess I'm just very lucky that I always get something on Valentine's Day. Of course! It's my birthday. Back to the Kisses though, as much as like almonds, I think I enjoyed the Cookies 'n' Creme more.

2. This is during our first internship, Histology-Pathology department. I probably told you many times that this is my favorite post. And I miss my post mates! This shot is taken when they're mounting the specimens whilst I'm preparing the gum labels. Oh can we just spot on that one guy who's just being nosey and not doing anything? LOL.  And the only girl is MTLEX March 2013's Top 5. And yay for the mangoes! I really like how homey this place is. It's like being at home away from home while having internship. I don't really remember getting tired or like going home tired when I was still in this post. One more kwento is that one day, I lost my internship nameplate and I am certain that it was on my uniform because I remember like seeing it but like at the end of the day, when Tin and I are on our way out, I was like, there's something missing. And then I noticed that my black nameplate is gone. Tin and I then searched for it but come on! It was nighttime and let alone the nameplate is black so we really had a hard time and I just said that we should just stop. I remember I was off the next day and Tin wouldn't be around since it's their seminar day at school so I asked another post mate to ask the staff whether they saw it on the floor or something but I didn't get anything so I though I lost it. Which would suck because that would mean I have to have it done and that I would have to pay again. So come Thursday, after our usual morning routine, the senior staff was like, "hey, Kim! we saw your nameplate on the floor the other night". I then turned around to this post mate who I asked a favor to and he was like, "sorry, I forgot to ask them". LOL. Good times!

3. Eating Krispy Kreme on our last day of duty. We are both actually from night duty but for some reason, she managed to stay and celebrate the thing but I was like, nah, I'm going to sleep. Actually, I think I was the only one from the night duty group who went home. Sorry! So yeah I think I had two pieces of doughnuts. Oh this one is kind of related to number 2. He was actually the one who brought in the doughnuts!

4. Still connected to number 3! Okay I got this before our Tuesday class at UST and I don't know but this is kind of very dramatic but I swear she was like back to her jolly self when she heard the shutter sound.  Jam is actually my group mate during our first internship and I really didn't expect that we would be kind of close friends. Well, I didn't expect anyone to be my friend to be fair so whatever. But yeah, she's so nice and fun to be with. Totally unrelated now, can I just say that I hate the fact that iPhone camera's shutter sound can't be turned down or off. What an ANTI-STALKER DEVICE. Silent feature of the phone doesn't make sense then. What a shame.

iPhone Pictures.

December 16, 2012 0
iPhone Pictures.

Me and a friend at the studio's lobby waiting for our turn to be called.

Can I just say that this girl friend of mine waited like forever to have her picture taken and all that? Like what I said in my previous blog, I think it was really awesome to catch up and talk to her that time because I really haven't seen her in like, FOREVER. And there couldn't be more perfect time than this. This is before she had her glamour/creative shot taken. And guess what I noticed? If your answer has anything to do with her looking like Adele, we're at the same page.  I told her that and we were singing Rolling in the Deep whilst waiting and yeah, had fun. Haha

ADELE!

If you're familiar with RED IMAGES, you would know that the hair isn't actually supposed to be done the way it is in the picture. So I concluded that the stylist actually visualized Adele and stuff.

Cousin and I. The picture above and below are actually taken way back our Kazam's and Cerealicious trip.

More of us.

I guess I should stop haha. You know! Before I could reveal anymore pictures of our face. Like, nothing really worth looking at. That's all :)

Tag Answers. :)

October 13, 2012 1
Tag Answers. :)
I've been tagged by the fab Pink Mommy, and here are my answers to the questions.

1. Do you wear makeup everyday?

- Nope. I don't actually wear make up that much. Not full make up at least. On normal days, I would wear concealer on some concealable flaws and stuff and I would just put powder to kind of set it. But when I'm running late, got no time for that. Just my tinted lip balm and I'm good to go.

2. Most favorite makeup product (only 1)

- I would say concealer. Thank goodness I am not a smoker so my lips are kind of okay without tinted lip balm but that would be my second. Ha! See what I did there? LOL.

3. iPhone or BB (blackberry)?

-  iPhone! I actually thought of buying Blackberry before I bought my very first iPhone but yeah I don't know what happened. No regrets!

4. Favorite body products?

- Since I'm not a morning person and I usually wake up late and got not much to prepare everyday, I got no time to put on stuff on my body but when I do, I just spray with my Victoria's Secret Body Mist. As much as I would like to apply lotion, it actually troubles me that it'll take time to dry and that I can't put on my uniform right away. On off days though, or which I would like to call the "MOISTURE DAY", I actually bother to put on lotion, lip balm, hair mask, face mask, and stuff. Okay this second paragraph is actually irrelevant. LOL.

5. Favorite perfume/cologne?

-  Victoria's Secret scents are really my type. As of now, I'm finishing this. As you can see, I'm running very low of this. Might last me a month or two. I think. Or three.

6. Where do you usually hangout?

- At home. Internship is really exhausting and really sucking the energy out of me so I would just stay home to kind of replenish and stuff.

7. Boyfriend/Girlfriend vs. Bestfriends?

- I have a picture to explain.

8. What/Who are you for the next 5 years?

- A better version of me. Hopefully was able to go to Paris at least.

I actually don't know much about what will happen to me or who will I become by then. Ugh, life. Hopefully I'd be a practicing Medical Technologist by then too. And doing other stuff as well.

9. MAC or Nars

- I actually don't own any NARS and I don't like M.A.C all that much so I don't know.

10. Moisturizer or toner?

- Toner! :) My skin is actually oily so it kind of have its natural moisture already so I don't want to interfere so that might bring back my very bad bad skin again. I actually used moisturizer before and it kind of broke me out. I should have used a moisturizer that's specifically for oily skin though. But whatever. I know it's very important to moisturize but whatever. Will do that soon! Once my skin is full healed.

11. Eyeliner or mascara?

- Mascara. For some reason, well...I actually used to wear eyeliner a lot way back high school but I didn't realize how odd it looked on me. Well not odd. Probably "inappropriate" since I was in high school that time. So yeah. If not for the trouble of removing mascara, I would probably wear it everyday since my lashes are actually short and boring.

iPhone front camera. Meh.

June 07, 2012 2
iPhone front camera. Meh.
iPhone's front camera is really very novice. Not even for a "just" decent camera. The resolution is really crappy and it's over pixelated. It's relative though. Like, you have to have a generous lighting for it to work fine. It's really very annoying. The back camera is "just" okay. Not that good either.

I'll show some pictures below to testify with my rant. I took these on like, night time with my room lights open. See the sanding sort of effect it gives? Not sexy.

Here's another one.

They're actually taken about probably just an hour interval or less.

So, maybe you're saying that I should have been more aware that it's night time and all that stuff, right?

Here now are photos I took during day time! Not as bad compared to the pictures I took during the night time. But yeah, it's not the point!

And this one:

So yeah. The reason why I'm still using it though is because I have to deal with it. I may hate stuff and all that but that doesn't mean I can do something for it to change. Like all else, we should just learn how to deal with stuff. It'll make living easier. But seriously APPLE, people really use the front camera so do something about it please. I'd be really happy if you can step up your game. 5 megapixel front camera please! :D

Hold-uppers and why should they die?

April 23, 2012 0
Hold-uppers and why should they die?

I really hate HOLD-UPPERS. But who doesn't? I consider myself lucky not to encounter it more than ONCE. Ok, first things first. I usually am A VICTIM OF PICKPOCKETS. Like, 4 times my lifetime (4 cellphones). However, I still remember a particular incident as CLEAR as it can be.

What happened was my mom, grandma, sisters and I were done watching a movie and we queued to ride a taxi/cab. Then, we became frustrated and all that so we just decided to take the alternative way to reach home. JEEPNEY! So we then waited for a jeepney that can possibly contain us 5.

We stayed at the front of the BARANGAY office (smallest government unit).  Then this unknown person from hell just came out of nowhere with a gun and attacked us 5. He pointed the gun to my sisters and told them not to make any crazy movements. I was still calm and kind of thought what's best to do at that moment. I'm not actually the type of person that will panic over things like that. So then the demon pointed the gun to my mom and my mom actually thought that the gunman was kidding and just some crazy dude. My mom doesn't really look approachable in general. I think the gunman got intimidated and moved to ME. He tried to grab my shoulder bag while the gun he was holding was pointed to my forehead. I tried to look him straight to the eye (damn red eyes) and all that. I even managed to turn my back and actually faced the front door of the BARANGAY office but WTF? The office was BLOODY EMPTY that time and like seriously, no one was there to help US.  And I wondered where they were because it was BLOODY OFFICE HOURS! (around 2 pm). My grandma was kind of hysterical and I was more worried that the demon would shoot her and all that so I decided to let go of the bag. And yeah so he got my shoulder bag right? It contained  my iPhone so that's the saddest part. But we got it blocked so technically iPod now. He got my ATM but that was also blocked now and I got a new card so technically totally useless for him.  He got my school ID which was probably the most annoying part of the event. The ID was actually defective that time and that I had to get a new ID so the bag contained both the old ID and the receipt for a new one. One thing you have to know about ID renewal in UST is that it literally is very complicated. It's kind of a 3-4 step process. And you have to let important/busy people sign it and all that. And yeah. And then, my wallet. Lucky for me though that most my money was already spent that time because I had to pay for my immunization vaccines.

Anyways, for some reason, behind my BUSHY HAIR, he saw my earrings and asked me to remove it. I probably was very afraid and actually removed it and just before I was able to hand it to him, somebody shouted "HOLD-UPPER!" Without thinking twice, I run my arse off the place. Although I admit that I was kind of afraid. Yeah so.. that happened. Their runaway vehicle was a motorcycle and yeah. Just saying.

Well, the reason being of me being reminded of the unfortunate event was when the jeepney on the side of the jeepney I was riding on awhile ago (April 23 2012) was having it's own little event. Only that it's a SNATCHER. Not only it's a snatcher. It's a FVCKING KID. Literally KID. I reckon that the KID is probably 8 or 9 or 10. And the KID tried to snatch a necklace of a girl and they were all running there and all that. The sad thing about a KID snatcher is that they can't go to JAIL. So the woman sitting next to me said that the PARENTS SHOULD GO TO JAIL INSTEAD. I agree! 100%. Add 1% to that and it's 101%.

I mean, I know life is pretty hard here in the Philippines. Harder for some. But who the hell are they to get stuff from people who probably worked harder than them to get to the position they are now? I mean, it's unfair. Hold-uppers should just die and be at peace if they claim that living is hard. Hold-uppers often say (when caught) that their son/daughter/wife/mother/father is sick and they have to pay for hospital bills/medicines and other rubbish reasons. See? Is it the fault of your victim that this thing is happening to your relative? YOUR relative is sick. YOU are 100% responsible to it. You may have saved their body but YOUR SOUL IS HOPELESS.

It's not fun walking around the METRO with a fear that things like this will happen all over again. SICK. So be careful.

Overheard. Jeepney convo.

March 01, 2012 0
Overheard. Jeepney convo.
Awhile ago when I was riding a jeepney on my way home, there's this couple (I think but I doubt as well) that rode the jeepney about 20 mins. away from my destination. It's not that I want to listen to them. They're like sitting in front of me so I can't help it. You want to know what their topic was? CELLPHONES.

The girl was surprised that the guy has two phones. She was like "oh! you have two phones! I didn't know that." and the guy sarcastically said "no, three." It's a Filipino way of like whatever-ing and it's fcking annoying. And then the guy said "that's because I'm a spoiled kid" and I was like WTF? He didn't even look like he took a shower for like a week and he's gonna brag about it? Give me a break. Plus! his phones aren't that great. Not great at all.

The girl then told him something about their school play and stuff like that but this guy doesn't seem interested and just continued listening to his phone's radio/mp3 I can't tell which. The girl said something like "it's really hard for me to send group message with this phone. My mom told me she'll get a new one for me." and all of a sudden, this guy said "i'm not used to using cheap phones." WTF? and he repeated it like 3 times. And he was like "I don't like the phones that my mom got me. I want a (can't remember but damn sure it's a never heard unit of Nokia) and she'll get what I want because I'm spoiled." Yeah, we get it! You're spoiled so you're probably too fly for a shower as well. Then he told the girl how his other phone is only for "sound tripping". Dude, that's obviously not an iPhone or any smart phones so stop with the bragging! You're killing me. And that the other phone is only for texting and he repeated "i'm not used to using cheap phones." Dude! you look cheap. I'm not used to looking at you (rude of me).  How about that?

This guy looks dirty. Not because of his dark complexion or whatever because there are many dark toned guys that look very fresh and neat. Unlike this one. His attitude is overpowering his fresh look and now he stinks. Ha!

Bakery Story. Review.

February 22, 2012 0
Bakery Story. Review.

How I wish I'd have a business this big and that I have like a million to spend but nothing much to spend to. This is a screenshot from my iPhone's app called Bakery Story and I've worked really hard for this to be this big and you might think that it's like an exquisite waste of time but I don't really care LOL. I've made about 10 renovations before finally being contented. I might not be very contented in the long run but as of now, I'm happy with my interior (talking like a guru).

CLOSER LOOK
So basically, you buy your equipment and you virtually bake stuff. It's kind of longer than the real thing. I guess (I don't really bake). Of course they didn't expect you to stare at your phone waiting for a 12 hour stuff to be ready and that's why they kind of made an allowance for you to be able to serve your food. The waiting time for a 'recipe' to be ready ranges from 1minute - 2 days depending on your preference or whatever.  And if you failed to serve it on the allowable time, it'll spoil and there would be a symbol of a disgusting fly above your food.Which is the most frustrating thing ever.

MINOR UPDATES!

This is how my bakery looks like now. Expanded it like, twice now. Had some more chairs and stuff. Although I don't have much time to update and stuff, I'm still giving it a go once in a while.

Recently, I feel like their ads and affiliated networks are kind of annoying. IDK.
